Last one?

This may well be the last post here as I plan on moving the blog over to the new website at blackout-tattoo.com. until I get my head around that conundrum you can take a look at the tattoo I made on my new friend Miss Timka yesterday.
Her name is cookie.

And I thought as an added bonus for your eyes I would throw up a sketch for a half sleeve of dragon goodness. This is going to be a little different when it gets tattooed, When it goes up on the new site, you'll see.

dot coms and candles

I made a candle tattoo on my long time customer Mr pong the other day to fill in a small space that he had left inside his arm bone.  his only stipulation with this one was that it must have a city and pink sky background. This is what he got. As always it was a pleasure tattooing him.
In other news, i recently set up a website to act as a sort of portfolio of work. its still a work in progress and will likely go through a few revisions including adding a new blog before its finished, but until then it looks something like this. go check it out
Thanks for looking

My new client Alan flew in from California wanting to get a tattoo that represented his Chinese heritage, and his Chinese Zodiac sign. I figured what could encapsulate these 2 ideas better than a monkey riding a flaming dragon. I am not sure if this has ever happened in the animal kingdom, but I am betting that if it has it probably looked something like this:

Thanks for coming by Alan, and thanks for sitting like a champ!

winners.

I am always grateful when my clients give me freedom to expand their ideas into tattoos that may not originally be what they pictured in their minds, and these 2 were no different. Bino wanted a tattoo to match a piece done on his other arm, and after a brief discussion I was left to my own devices and this is what I came up with.
Alfred on the other hand asked for only one thing, which was roses. I am not sure if he was expecting a severed arm in there too, but that's what he got.
I honestly do think that by giving an artist a bit of freedom you can come out of it with something new and exciting. it's good for you and good for me, and that makes everyone a winner.

sunsets and sad faces

Ive been working on some larger pieces which aren't finished so excuse the lack of pictures. what I can show you is a shameless photo of me working on my client mike and his octoperv and dirty mermaids sleeve.

These were taken with the instagram machine so excuse the washed out pictures.

and here is shot of what Mr Pong got. she is sad, and only Mr Pong knows why.
until next time friends.

The Avengers....

Sucks....
Superman...not so much.

Also lately has been some confusion with the information on google. BLACKOUT is no longer located in Causeway Bay. The new address is: 2F, 234 Sai Yeung Choi St South, Prince Edward.
This info should be updated as soon as google pull theirs fingers out.

Thanks for looking friends.

CHANGES.

Some of you might have noticed that there has been a severe lack of updates over the last couple of weeks. There is a reason for that, and all will be revealed very, very soon. Needless to say that the news is BIG both for me, electric pick,  and for BLACKOUT. Keep your eyes and ears open and you might hear the rumours, and for once these rumours might be true.

In the mean time, to satiate your need for eye candy.....have a vulture.

Birds.

I got to do a couple of bird related tattoos this week, so i decided to throw them up for your viewing pleasure. First up is a swallow on Mr David. His father and grandfather both sported swallows on their forearms, so Dave thought he would carry on the tradition. This is what he got:

Second, Miss Fiona got a peacock feather on her ribs. Its a rough spot, but she pulled through with minimal screaming and kicking. I have decided the lady bird at the bottom is called Franz.
And finally to cap it all of I thought I would put up a video of a song I like By Follow That Bird! I dig it, and so should you.

On a separate note, Chinese New Year is upon us again so BLACKOUT will be closed on Sunday 22nd and Monday 23rd. I will be back in the chair on Tuesday. As always, if you got questions then blast them through the internet to: hkblackout@gmail.com.

I started this Hannya and chrysanthemum tattoo on my buddy Richie from the awesome Shepherds The Weak today. STW has been a Hong Kong hardcore institution for more years than I care to remember. If you get the chance then you should definitely check them out!!

Happy New Year!

This is my first tattoo of 2012, and if the misguided and the mentally challenged are correct in thinking that the world is going to end in 2012, it might be the most prophetic one I do all year.

I found this one kicking around in the tat-bank and I cant remember posting it, so consider this one a freebie. It's half healed and half fresh...you know the drill.

Also there are still 2 Electric Pick prints available in the studio. These beauties went very quickly, but the remaining ones are still here, waiting to adorn some lucky art lover's wall. Swing by to get your hands on them. They are the A2 version and can be had for HK$500. fucking bargain.

Finally I want to thank all the friends, blog followers and amazing customers that made BLACKOUT a blast to work at this year. Without you guys there wouldn't be a BLACKOUT so feel free to have a drink tonight and give yourselves a pat on the back.
Personally I am excited for 2012 to properly take off. We have some very interesting plans for the studio this year, and a lot of different projects that will hopefully make the transition from imagination to reality. Happy new year friends, and I hope 2012 treats you well!!!

A couple of new ones

The lovely Miss Pam was by yesterday from the grand old U.S and A to get some geometrical madness on her ribular area, and I just came across the secretly dirty geisha that Mr Allen got for himself on his calfular area. It's a little fresh and bloody, but you get the idea right?

BABY EATER

Round 2.

Half healed. Half fresh. All business.

Sorry sorry sorry, I know, I know. It's been for ever since I dropped some pictures for your viewing pleasure. Don't worry I intend to make it up to you with this one. It's been a crazy Busy month and there hasn't been much time to breathe, but on the plus side I got to do some great tattoos and even squeeze out a couple of little paintings too.

First up, the lovely Miss Karo came back from the mysterious land of Nether, she travels a whole lot and wanted to remind herself of the joys of living out of a suitcase. This is what she ended up with. Yup. It's a ship. A pirate ship. In a lotus Flower. yargh.
A nice dude called Matthew got the wings of hermes on his leg bones. Also because he is on the road to Europe and obviously he wants to get there quickly. True story.
I also got to do my cheong saam wearing, cigarette smoking, High heel rocking pin-up.
Lastly, here are some animals. Those of you in the know will clearly see that they are both scientifically and biologically accurate.

In other news. The one Mr. Electric Pick is off on another adventure to foreign lands. This time the spy HQ is sending him to Australia in the next few days, and I have been informed that there will be some serious working invloved, so if you live in Oz and wanna get tattooed by the best tattooer I know (and you should), then check the Electric Plog for details, or E-mail him at: pick@electricpick.com.
word!

So you say you want a revolution...

I tattooed this on Joshua yesterday. He has been living up in the wilds of China for 25 years and payed me a visit to if I could work something up for him to show off his revolutionary side. This is what we came up with. It's a depiction of the proletarian revolution that happened in China mostly through the late 60's. I though it would be cool to make it look like an old communist propaganda poster. simple. bold. It does the trick.

Sometimes smaller tattoos can be fun too. and these 2 are about as small as they come.
Black and grey tattoos are also fun.
Finally this is a sketch of what I was going to be tattooing today....but it never happened. you can't have everything i guess.
Until next time....
